I sat and watched as my daughter-in-law, Amber, set up this whole blog for me. Amber retrieved this program, downloaded another, and after doing 2 of the Grandkids pictures, made me do the other 2. After much “no- no- yes” I finally got them up. Now, she says, I am ready to go. Ha-ha! She has every step neatly written down, but at some point in your life there comes a time when things just do not absorb. So I thank her for all her work and I hope I can make her hard work pay off.
Technology can be a wonderful thing, except when it makes you feel like a moron! There is much I can do on a computer, but as I am learning, it is only the basics. I probably should be taking a course so I can learn more and not feel like the removed generation I am from. But then again, my mind would have to absorb it!
I learned to type on a manual typewriter, then in High School I was introduced to an electric typewriter. I learned quickly that you cannot press the keys as hard as on a manual one! When we got our first computer, I was informed that it wasn’t typing, it was keyboarding. (I still call it typing – it’s what I learned.)
I do have a cell phone, sort of. I was participating in an opinion call on the telephone, and they asked if I would like to participate in other opinion posts on my smart phone, to which I answered, “I’m sorry but I only have a ‘dumb phone’. I haven’t graduated past the flip phone. It took me a while before I even got a cell phone. Part of me didn’t want to be found whenever and wherever I was. But eventually, you cannot leave home without it!
So I am trying to play catch-up with a technology that has left my generation ’warming the bench’ and standing on the sidelines. One thing I do have going for me – I am determined! I will not be beaten by silicon chips, and a mass of wires in a metal case! I WILL PREVAIL!(I hope)
